Wedding Photography Workshop

Today we hosted the first of our new look Wedding Photography Workshops at the studio (you can find more info over on our Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/xopstudio)

Here are a few of the images I shot while showing our attendees how I achieved them…

2,555 days and counting….

So a bit of a soppy one here, so gents you might not want to read on. ( or ladies for that matter)

7 years ago today I said “I do” holding back to tears to a woman who had taken my life by storm.

I first met Laura (or gawked from a distance) during a party of mutual friends six years earlier. Now at this time I was 14 years old, and as you can imagine like a dog on heat. All I remember from that night thinking back was her tiny red mini skirt and my Dad pointing her out to me! Sorry Mam…..

Sitting in my room 4 years later playing on my laptop and making model cars, yes I was that cool, my brother came in and said “Hey Laura, the fit one, wants to add you on MSN. She thinks you’re fit.” As you can imagine I couldn’t say yes quick enough. We started talking that night and for a full week didn’t stop at all. She even rang me at 1am one morning just to find out what I sounded like!

We decided to meet that Sunday, and being the classy lad I am I offered to pick Laura up and take her to the beach for our first date. I collected her from a petrol station and started singing my favourite John Legend song at the time; When the sun comes up!

It’s safe to say after this date where we shared our first kiss under a street lamp (hence the tattoo) that I was smitten. She was the one for me, I was 18 and she was a 21 year old nurse….enough said!

So the years have rolled on since then and we’ve had our fair share of headache and sadness, and lost people close to us. But we’ve also had some amazing times, she’s given me two amazingly beautiful boys and stuck with me through thick and thin and has literally given me the best 9 years of my life, and 7 of those as man and wife!

So rather than prattle on anymore I thought I’d share some snaps from our time together…

I love you Jackson, more than a fat kid (me) loves cake! And yes this means I haven’t got a card yet…..

Some of my couples will know I am absolutely terrible with names, luckily on this day the lovely couple had the same name as their equally lovely photographers. No excuses then….
This was my first visit to Jersey Farm in Barnard Castle, and I certainly wasn’t dissapointed….here are some of my favourites from the day…

Who Am I….?

So, it struck me yesterday that lots of my clients who enquire through my website, blog and Facebook, don’t actually use my name. It tends to start “Hi there”….and this bothers me a little. This is obviously no fault of the couples who are enquiring but I guess my lack of a face within my brand. With this in mind I wanted to share a little bit of information about me and help people to realise that Xtraordinary Photography isn’t a network of photographers working together….its actually just me!

 

 

So, now you know my name is Chris. Well actually it’s Christopher, but hey that’s just for my Mother.

So here’s a little more about me…I’ve been married to the beautiful girl I met at 18 for nearly 7 years now, and we have two awesome kids Oliver (6) and Noah (16 months). I’m the youngest of three with my Big Brother Sean being an inspirational teacher at a local secondary school, and my very brainy sister being a Dispensing Optician and Practice Manager- OOO EERR!

Some quick fire facts about me;

• I played for England U-19’s Basketball Team
• I used to be County Cross Country Champion
• I was once on the News about being 6’2″at 12 years old
• I have bent little fingers (its genetic(thanks mother))
• I’m a massive fan of music- especially Maximo Park- A North East Band

 

So there you go, now you know a little more about me! Watch out over the next few days for some of my most recent work from weddings, engagement shoots and band portraits!

Family Time- Birthday Shoot

It seems like an absolute age since I blogged anything, in fact its been almost a month. So it seems fitting that I blog about one of the reasons why I have taken time away from blogging and social media in general. My boys! After my busiest wedding season yet, missing out on fun days out, missing Oliver’s football practice and missing all of the early starts with Noah, I wanted to take some time away from sitting at my compter after school and spend the time having fun with the kids’ and the Wife even got some attention too!!

Oliver turns six next week and as with every year previous, I wanted a new set of images to grace my living room. We went for a 15 minute walk in a park in Jarrow, and Oliver wanted some “cool no colour pictures” as he said….
